Matthew Tievsky Wins Substantial Verdict in Auto Accident Lawsuit in Maryland District Court

Matthew Tievsky, an associate attorney at Chaikin, Sherman, Cammarata & Siegel, P.C., recently won a substantial verdict for his clients in the District Court for Prince George’s County, Maryland. The District Court is reserved for smaller cases in Maryland, worth less than $30,000. The clients were a mother and daughter who were in a car that was struck when a Prince George’s County schoolbus smashed a third vehicle into their car. The Court found the county Board of Education liable for the negligence of its bus driver, and awarded Mr. Tievsky’s clients a total of $18,500.00, even though the clients’ medical bills only totaled about $6,000.00.

This was a great result, particularly because the mother unfortunately passed away before the trial and couldn’t testify for herself. Most of the testimony had to be delivered by her daughter, who at the time of trial was only 12 years old. The daughter did a great job in relaying both her damages and the damages of her mother, and was a very credible witness.
