Celebrating Two Courtroom Victories: A Commitment to Excellence in Every Case

Partner Stephen Ollar recently secured two courtroom victories that underscore a core principle of our practice: every case—large or small—receives the same level of meticulous preparation, zealous advocacy, and unwavering dedication.

A Six-Figure Jury Verdict in Arlington County

In the first matter, Mr. Ollar represented a client in a two-day jury trial in Arlington County, Virginia, after the insurance company refused to fairly compensate her for significant injuries and anticipated future surgical needs. The collision occurred when another driver abruptly pulled out of a parking space and violently struck our client’s vehicle.

Despite the insurance company’s persistent undervaluation of the claim, Mr. Ollar’s presentation of medical evidence, expert testimony, and the client’s long-term prognosis persuaded the jury to deliver a $175,000 verdict—exceeding the insurer’s final offer by $100,000.

A Bench Trial Victory in Prince George’s County

Mr. Ollar’s second victory came in a bench trial in Prince George’s County District Court, where he represented a father and son injured in an automobile collision. The father, a Metropolitan Police Department officer and longtime youth sports coach, suffered injuries that made fulfilling his professional duties and participating in the youth team he cherished profoundly difficult.

Mr. Ollar emphasized the human impact of the injuries—how they interfered with the officer’s service to the community and, just as importantly, the emotional loss of being unable to remain active and present for the young athletes he mentored. The Court awarded the father approximately $22,000, nearly $10,000 more than the insurance company’s final offer.

The officer’s son, who regularly assisted his father with the youth sports team and was also injured in the collision, received a $15,000 award. The result exceeded expectations and reflected the seriousness of his experience.

These victories highlight Mr. Ollar’s commitment to going to trial to obtain justice and to applying the same strategic precision, compassion, and determination to every matter—whether the case involves a jury trial for a client with permanent injuries or a bench trial for clients who suffered serious injuries but ultimately recovered.
