In the third amendment made to the defamation complaint against Bill Cosby, Partner Joseph Cammarata and Associate Attorney Matthew Tievsky have added four more women to the lawsuit filed on behalf of Tamara Green, Therese Serignese and Linda Traitz. This amendment brings the total number of plaintiffs to seven women. New claims against Mr. Cosby have also been added to the complaint for false light (involving offensive and embarrassing implications) and intentional infliction of emotional distress (resulting in extreme psychological distress).
The new plaintiffs, hailing from California, Arizona, New York, and Michigan, allege that they suffered sexual abuse and/or assault by Mr. Cosby and when they publically disclosed it they were defamed by being called liars. One plaintiff described that she first met the comedian backstage at the Tonight Show in 1969 as a young actress. The second, another aspiring actress, met Cosby at the age of 17. The third new plaintiff met Cosby in 1970 in Los Angeles when she was a young, aspiring comedy writer, and the fourth new plaintiff was first contacted by Cosby in 1990 after the then 28-year-old sent a resume to a casting agency.
Mr. Cosby sought to dismiss the previous complaint and the federal court rejected Mr. Cosby’s attempt to dismiss the case.
