CSCS #MyCovidHeroDC Campaign: Supporting Frontline Heroes

During the COVID-19 pandemic, frontline healthcare workers, essential workers, and community volunteers demonstrated extraordinary courage and dedication. Chaikin, Sherman, Cammarata & Siegel, P.C. partnered with local nonprofit organizations to recognize these heroes and provide meaningful support to organizations serving vulnerable communities. The firm launched the #MyCovidHeroDC video campaign from May 25 through June 8, 2020, inviting community members to submit videos celebrating their local COVID heroes. For every video submitted, the firm donated $25 to a coalition of nonprofit partners, with a total commitment of up to $20,000.

Supporting organizations included Capital Area Food Bank, Food & Friends, House of Ruth, Martha’s Table, Miriam’s Kitchen, and United Way of the National Capital Area. Each organization played a critical role serving vulnerable populations during the pandemic—from food security to housing support to emergency services. By channeling donations through the #MyCovidHeroDC campaign, the firm helped ensure these vital services could continue. The campaign recognized that community heroes were not only healthcare workers on the frontlines but also essential workers, caregivers, volunteers, and community leaders who stepped up when their neighbors needed them most. This initiative reflected CSCS’s commitment to social responsibility and community support during one of the most challenging periods in recent history.
