Joseph Cammarata Elected Liaison for Traumatic Brain Injury Litigation Group of the American Association for Justice

Chaikin, Sherman, Cammarata & Siegel, P.C. is pleased to announce that Partner Joseph Cammarata has been elected Liaison to the Brain Injury Association of America for the Traumatic Brain Injury Litigation Group of the American Association of Justice! Partner Cammarata was voted into this position on July 23, 2017.

As Liaison, he will play a valuable role in supporting members of the American Association for Justice (AAJ), the world’s largest trial bar association, who advocate on behalf of victims struggling with the profound consequences of concussions and brain injuries, and other injuries from another person’s negligence. AAJ Litigation Groups are critical tools for plaintiffs’ attorneys who battle the overwhelming resources of insurance companies and big business. Litigation Groups provide members with invaluable access to the latest information and issues in their particular area of law, specific strategies that have proven successful in handling challenging cases, and a network of professional connections that enable them to provide the best possible representation to injured victims.

A dual Board Certified Trial Attorney with decades of experience handling personal injury cases involving traumatic brain injuries, Partner Cammarata has established himself as an authority in the field, and has cultivated a reputation of successful advocacy throughout the local and legal communities. His continuing leadership roles in the brain injury community have not only driven our firm’s success in fighting on behalf of brain injury victims throughout the DC Metro Area, but have also produced significant achievements and results that raise awareness and protect public safety.

Partner Cammarata’s involvement in the brain injury community includes a number of achievements and leadership roles:

  • Brain Injury Association of Washington, D.C. – Mr. Cammarata is a Founder of the Brain Injury Association of Washington, D.C. (BIADC), a non-profit organization dedicated to prevention, research, education, and advocacy. He currently serves as President and Treasurer of the BIADC.
  • DC Youth Athletic Concussion Protection Act – Mr. Cammarata drafted the DC Youth Athletic Concussion Protection Act, which became law in 2011. The Act protects young athletes throughout the District of Columbia with clear guidelines that must be followed when athletes are believed to have suffered concussions, including protocol for removing players from public or private organized athletic activity and allowing them to return only after they have been medically cleared. The Act also implemented educational training programs for concussion recognition and safety procedures, and provides parents and children with educational resources concerning brain injuries.
  • DC Metro Area “Preferred Attorneys” – Mr. Cammarata’s work in the brain injury community, along with the leadership roles and involvement of out firm’s other active Partners, Ira Sherman and Allan Siegel have led to our legal team being selected by the Brain Injury Association of America (BIAA) as “Preferred Attorneys” for the DC Metro area.
  • Featured Speaker – Mr. Cammarata shares his knowledge and insight in matters involving brain injury and the civil justice system as a featured speaker at seminars and legal events. His speaking engagements, including his most recent mTBI presentation for the AAJ, foster a strong community of advocacy for brain injury victims, and provides fellow attorneys with the tools to advocate effectively on behalf of their own clients struggling with these injuries.

Over the years, Mr. Cammarata and our legal team have helped brain injury victims and their loved ones recover millions of dollars in compensation. Their efforts to support victims who often suffer profound and life-altering consequences following injuries have also led to increased awareness and better standards that protect public safety. We congratulate Partner Cammarata on his recent election as Liaison, and believe that he will provide a valuable service not only to members, but to victims and communities as well.
