Man Killed on Metro Train Tracks Outside D.C

by | Nov 24, 2015

About a month after the Federal Government announced that it would assume responsibility for safety oversight of Metro trains, another death has occurred. On the evening of November 23, 2015, a man was run over and killed by a Blue Line Metro train on the tracks of the Capitol Heights Station in Prince George’s County.

Metro Transit Police are still investigating whether the death was accidental or a suicide. Trains on the Blue and Silver Lines were directed to use a single track, for several hours. This most recent death comes on the heels of recent Metro accidents, including a train derailment in August, and an outpouring of smoke in a Metro tunnel that killed a woman and sickened dozens in January.

Part of making Metro safe is holding it accountable through the civil justice system. If you or anyone you know has been injured in an accident related to Metro, you should contact the personal injury attorneys at Chaikin, Sherman, Cammarata & Siegel, P.C. for a free consultation.
