DC Rabbi to Appear at Criminal Hearing in Voyeurism Case

by | Jan 14, 2015

DC Rabbi Bernard Freundel, whose October arrest shocked communities across the globe, is scheduled to appear in a criminal status hearing this Friday, January 16, 2015. The hearing will be held in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia at 10:00 a.m. in courtroom 314 and will concern the voyeurism charges Freundel faces for allegedly spying on women with hidden cameras as they used the ritual bath (mikvah) at his Georgetown synagogue, Kesher Israel.

Everyone who has an interest in these proceedings is free to attend Friday’s hearing. While this hearing is called a “status conference,” new information regarding the status of the criminal proceedings against Rabbi Freundel will likely be revealed.

Chaikin, Sherman, Cammarata & Siegel, P.C. will keep you fully apprised of the results of the hearing. Our firm is currently representing women who were allegedly spied upon by Freundel. In December, we filed a class action lawsuit in order to help those who were allegedly victimized by Freundel obtain justice. The class action suit is amended as more women step forward to accuse Rabbi Freundel. According to law enforcement, hundreds of women may have been secretly recorded by Freundel as they used the mikvah.
