  • Higher Risk of Fatal Crashes for Veterans

    New studies reveal that combat veterans of the wars in Iraq or Afghanistan are at a higher risk of being involved in fatal car crashes when they return home from war. Men who served in either of the wars have a 76 percent higher rate of dying in car crashes, and woman a 43 percent higher rate, than people in the general population according to an unpublished study be an epidemiologist at the Department of Veterans Affairs.

    A study done by the car insurance company USAA confirms the increased risk for post-combat veterans, and notes that the risk increases for veterans with multiple deployments. The military and clinicians involved with combat veterans are now focused and helping returning veterans to increase self control and minimize fear and panic while on the road.
