19 People Hospitalized After Virginia Highway Bus & Semi-Truck Crash

by | Nov 19, 2019

Early Sunday morning, a charter bus with more than 20 passengers plowed into an overturned tractor-trailer along Virginia Highway. The collision tore the trailer in half and seriously injured nearly everyone on the bus. At least 19 people have been hospitalized due to their injuries.

The tractor-trailer – one carrying mail – had tipped over due to losing control on the icy lanes of eastbound Interstate 64. The bus – one believed to be owned and operated by Silver Lining Charters & Tours – was unable to stop in time as the truck overturned in front of it. The bus slammed into the trailer and burst through it before hitting the right-side guardrail of the highway, where it eventually came to a halt.

The aftermath of the bus and truck crash, combined with the icy roadway conditions, reportedly also caused another seven crashes along the same highway.

Both the Virginia State Motor Carrier Safety Team and the United States Postal Inspection Service arrived on the scene to conduct crash site investigations. It is unclear at this time what party will be found liable for the accident.
