On the night of Friday, December 23, 2016, police identified a Lexus on the road that had been reported stolen, but lost it while in pursuit.
Later that evening, the police found the same stolen car, but unfortunately after it had caused a four car collision. While speeding, the Lexus rear-ended a Nissan Altima, causing the Nissan to strike a tree and another vehicle. The other vehicle that was hit by the Nissan then hit yet another vehicle on the road.
The driver of the Nissan was sent immediately to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. He was from Southeast, Washington, DC. The police caught the driver of the Lexus, and he is being charged with murder. At least two other people were in the Lexus and fled the scene.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, in 2015 alone there were 1,715,000 injury crashes and 32,092 fatalities. That’s almost 88 people dying in a motor vehicle crash per day.
