Our client was a pedestrian jogging on a sidewalk in Montgomery County when he was struck by a bicyclist. The bicyclist was not paying attention to where he was going. He knocked our client down causing him to suffer a severe brain injury and go into a coma. The client later died from complications from this injury. The negligent party was an eighteen year old. When our client's wife first came to us, she was concerned that there would not be any recovery because the wrongdoer was an eighteen year old, and since he was not driving a car, there would be no car insurance available. The law firm's investigation determined that the boy was living with his mother, and that his mother had a homeowner's policy that would apply to his actions while riding his bicycle. The homeowner's policy tendered its full policy limits of $500,000 to settle the case.
