CSCS Gets a Double Victory in a Case against the District of Columbia- Part II

The law firm of Chaikin, Sherman, Cammarata & Siegel, P.C. successfully negotiated with the District of Columbia, who has finally agreed to forgo its claim to recover $2.5 million in money spent to care for Mr. Frank Harris, Jr. from the proceeds of the settlement of the case brought on behalf of Mr. Harris by the law firm of Chaikin, Sherman, Cammarata & Siegel, P.C. Although Mr. Harris has no reasonable likelihood of being released from St. Elizabeth’s Hospital at any time during his lifetime (he has already been in St. Elizabeth’s for approximately 34 years) lawyers, Ira Sherman and Joseph Cammarata were successful in negotiating a payment to Mr. Harris of $650,000 which will be placed in a “Special Needs Trust” to provide services supplementary to those which the District of Columbia will provide for his care. His guardian, Ms. Janice Motley, is hopeful that the money can benefit Mr. Harris by paying for “field trips” to places such as to the zoo and the provide a one-on-one teacher.
